A RACI matrix is a chart that helps in identifying the role of each person or team in completing tasks or deliverables for a project. RACI stands for Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed. Each column in the matrix represents a different role or person involved in the project, while each row represents a task or deliverable.

Follow the steps below on how to use the free Google Sheets RACI template.
Start by opening your Google Sheets RACI template. Look for the legend in the top left corner to understand the color codes and letters (R, A, C, I). The legend explains what each color and letter stands for. R means Responsible, A means Accountable, and so on. This helps you know who does what.
Use the tabs at the bottom to switch between Sheet 1 and Sheet 2. Sheet 1 has the project tasks. Sheet 2 lets you change colors and letters.
Go back to Sheet 1 to assign tasks. Put the right letter under each role for each task. Use R, A, C, or I based on the legend.
If you need to change colors or the meaning of R, A, C, I, go to Sheet 2. Here, you can edit the dropdown keys as needed.
Just click on a cell and select the fill color in the menu. Select ‘Conditional formatting’.
Click on the the Conditional format rules that you want to edit.
You can edit the color of the cell here.
Apply filters in Google Sheets to sort tasks. You can organize them by priority, status, or who's responsible. This makes managing the project easier.
Keep the spreadsheet updated with the progress of tasks and any role changes. This keeps everyone on the same page and the project on track.
