In this tutorial, we will show you exactly how to insert GIFs into a Google Sheet. Simply follow the steps below.
If you put a GIF inside a cell in Google Sheets, it won’t move. It will just be a picture. But if you place the GIF on top of the cells, it will move like a regular GIF. Here's how to do it:
Download the GIF you want to use and save it to your computer. Make sure the file type is “.gif.”
Go to Google Sheets and click on the Google Sheet where you want to insert your GIF. Here, we use “Expenses - August.”
After opening your Google Sheet, click on the cell where you want the GIF to appear.
At the top, find “Insert.” Select “Image” and click on “Insert image over cells.” The “Insert image” box will pop up.
In the Insert image box, select “Upload.” Click on “Browse.” A box will appear to let you choose a file from your computer.
Find and double-click the GIF on your computer. In our example, we use “Calculate Expenses.”
Then, your GIF will be inserted over some cells. You can’t see here, but the GIF is moving.
Click on the GIF to select it. You’ll see small blue boxes around it. Drag one of these boxes to make the GIF bigger or smaller, depending on how you want it to look.
Move the GIF to the cell where you want it. You can't resize just one cell in Google Sheets. You'll need to resize the entire row and column the cell is in to fit the GIF. This will make it look like the GIF is moving inside the cell.
Now, you have a moving GIF in your Google Sheet (though you can't see it here).
