Follow the steps below to easily insert a date picker in Google Sheets.
In your spreadsheet, click on the cell or range of cells where you want the date picker to appear. You can select a single cell or drag to select multiple cells.
Navigate to the "Data" menu at the top. Choose "Data validation" from the dropdown list. This action opens the data validation dialog box.
In the data validation dialog box, set the criteria to "Date" from the dropdown menu under "Criteria."
You have options to specify the date should be a valid date, before, after, or within a specific range.
You can set specific restrictions for the date. For example, you can restrict dates to be after today's date or within a specific range. Use the provided boxes to set these restrictions.
Optionally, add an input message that will appear when the cell is selected. This can be instructions like "Please select a date."
Click "Done" to apply the data validation. This adds a date picker to the selected cells.
Click on one of the validated cells to test it. Double clicking the validated cells opens the date picker. Choose a date from the picker. The selected date will automatically fill into the cell.
If needed, you can always go back and adjust the data validation settings. This includes changing the date range, the input message, or removing the date picker entirely.
