Below we have outlined the steps on how you can make a fillable form in Google Sheets:
Think about the information you want to collect. For example, if you're collecting feedback, you might want fields for Name, Date, Feedback, and Rating. In the first row of your sheet, type these field names into the cells to serve as headers. This row will help keep your data organized.
Make your headers stand out by formatting them. You can bold the text, change its color, or fill the cell background with a color. Use the formatting tools in the toolbar above the spreadsheet.
Click on the column letter or cell where you want to add validation. For example, if you want all entries in the "Date" column to be a date, click the column letter at the top.
Go to Format > Number then click "Date".
Below is the default format for dates in Google Sheets:
To ensure data consistency and prevent errors, you can use data validation for certain fields.
Go to Data > Data validation from the top menu.
Click "Add rule". Click on the dropdown menu under Criteria and choose "Is valid date".
For some types, you can specify further conditions (e.g., a date must be after a certain date).
If you want a dropdown list (useful for ratings or yes/no questions), select "Dropdown" and enter the options.
Click "Done" at the bottom right corner of the screen to apply your data validation rules.
Click the Share Button located in the top-right corner of the screen.
You can enter the email addresses of people you want to share the spreadsheet with and select whether they can view, comment, or edit.
Alternatively, you can get a shareable link by choosing "Anyone with the link" under General access and selecting "Editor" then clicking "Copy link."
Tip: To prevent accidental changes to your headers or formulas, you can protect these cells. Right-click the cell or range, then select Protect range.
