Follow the steps below to easily rotate text in Google Sheets.
Open your browser, go to the Google Sheets website, and open the spreadsheet document where you intend to rotate text.
Click on a single cell or click and drag to select multiple cells that contain the text you wish to rotate. Ensure your selection is precise to avoid rotating text unintentionally.
In the Google Sheets menu bar at the top of the screen, click on "Format." From the dropdown menu, hover over "Rotation" to reveal the text rotation options. From the text rotation options, choose the one that best fits your needs. Options include rotating text up, down, or setting it vertically. Click on your chosen option to apply it to the selected cells.
Your rotated text should look like this.
You can also merge and rotate text in Google Sheets. Simply follow the steps below
Navigate to the Google Sheets homepage, identify, and open the document where you need to merge and rotate text.
Select the cells you want to merge by clicking and dragging your mouse across them. Make sure all the cells that need to be combined are highlighted.
Go to the "Format" menu on the top, select "Merge cells," and then choose "Merge all" from the sub-menu. This action will merge your selected cells into a single larger cell.
With the merged cell still selected, click on "Format" again, hover over "Rotation," and a side menu will appear with various rotation options. For our example, we will select "Rotate up".
Choose how you want the text within the merged cell to be rotated. After selecting, you might need to adjust the size of the merged cell to accommodate the rotated text properly. Drag the cell's borders to resize it as needed.
