Below we explain how to use our portfolio tracker in Google Sheets:
Enter the full name of the investment.
Input the stock's ticker symbol (e.g., TSLA for Tesla, AAPL for Apple). This symbol is used for fetching the current price through Google Finance. You can find a list of all stock ticker symbols here.
Specify the sector to which the investment belongs (e.g., Technology, Healthcare).
Enter the date on which you purchased the investment.
Input the price at which you bought the investment.
Mention how many units/shares you purchased.
Use the =GOOGLEFINANCE function with the ticker symbol in column B to automatically fetch the current price of the stock.
Example: =GOOGLEFINANCE(B2).
Note: The GOOGLEFINANCE function automatically updates the stock prices, so your portfolio values are always up to date.
This column calculates the total current value of your holdings. Multiply the purchase quantity by the current price using a formula (=F2*G2).
