Follow the steps below to make a family tree template for Google Sheets.
Please do not request edit access. To make a copy, go to 'File' and select 'Make a copy’.
Start by opening the Google Sheets family tree template. This template includes placeholders like "First Middle Lastname" that you'll edit to fit your family tree.
Click on a cell with placeholder text, such as a name you want to update. Type the real name of your family member over "First Middle Lastname."
Choose the cell where you'd like to add a photo, typically near the family member's name. Click on it to select. With the cell selected, go to the menu and navigate to "Insert" > "Image" > "Image in cell". Then, select the photo file from your computer. It will resize to fit the cell.
Repeat the steps for each family member you want to include in your tree. Replace placeholders with their names and insert photos in the corresponding cells.
After adding all necessary information and photos, review your family tree. Make any necessary adjustments to names, photos, or the overall layout to ensure it looks good.
You can share your completed family tree directly from Google Sheets with other family members or download it as a PDF/print it for a physical copy.
