In this article we will show you how to use the delete row shortcut in Google Sheets on Windows and Mac in just a few simple steps.

How to use the Delete Row Shortcut in Google Sheets

For the purpose of this demonstration an example set of data has been created. Click here to access this sample sheet and follow along at home.

Step 1: Select any Cell in the Row to Delete

In the sheet select any cell that forms the row you wish to delete.

Step 2: Use the Keyboard Shortcut

To delete a row in Chrome using the keyboard shortcut on Windows you must first hold the Alt and E keys together, then press the D key.  

If you are using the Mac operating system you must hold the Control, Option and the E keys at the same time.

Finally if you are using a different browser other than Chrome in Windows (This also applies to any browser in the Linux operating system) press the Alt, Shift and E keys at the same time and then in quick succession press the D key.

Step 3: See the Results

The row is deleted and the rest of the data is moved upwards.
