In this article, we will show you how to use OCR for forms. Simply follow the steps below!
To automatically extract data from forms using OCR, we will be using Lido, which is a spreadsheet designed to streamline and automate repetitive tasks. You can register for an account using the following link for free: https://www.lido.app/go/signup.
We'll use Lido's unique IMPORTPDF formula to extract all content from a provided form.
Log into your Google Drive account and upload the form by clicking on "New" and selecting "File upload." This step is crucial as it allows Lido to access your file online.
Log into your Lido account, navigate to the Files page, and click "New file" to create a new spreadsheet. This will serve as the document for organizing the data extracted from your form.
In your Lido spreadsheet, click the plus (+) icon at the top left corner of your screen to add a new worksheet.
In cell A1, type "=IMPORTPDF(" (without the quotation marks).
Click the "Add Credential" button and follow the instructions to link the Google account where you uploaded the form. This will give Lido access to your file. Make sure to complete all steps to set up your account properly.
After connecting your Google account, press the comma key to move to the next part of the formula. Then, click "Select a file" to open the file dialog.
In the file selector, navigate to your Google Drive and click on the form you uploaded. This will link the selected PDF directly to the IMPORTPDF formula.
Finish the formula by typing ",Sheet1!B2)" to specify where the extracted data should start, beginning at cell B2 in Sheet1. Press ENTER to apply the formula.
Right-click on cell A1 after entering the formula and select "Run action" from the context menu. This will execute the IMPORTPDF formula and start extracting data from your form.
After the formula runs, go to Sheet1 and review the extracted data. Ensure that all information is accurately displayed and correctly represented in the cells.
We hope that you now know how to use OCR for forms with Lido.
