To extract data from a PDF using OCR to Google Sheets, we will be using Lido, a tool designed to simplify and automate repetitive tasks. You can sign up for a free account using the following link: https://www.lido.app/go/signup.
Follow these steps to extract data from a PDF using OCR and import it into Google Sheets with Lido's PDF importer tool:
Log into your Lido account and navigate to the Files page. Click "New file" to create a new spreadsheet where you will organize and analyze the data extracted from your PDF.
In the new spreadsheet, go to the "File" menu at the top. Select "Import from PDF" from the dropdown menu to begin converting your PDF data into a structured format.
Click on "Click to Upload" in the file importer tool and choose the PDF you want to upload from your computer. You can also drag and drop the file directly into the uploader.
After uploading the PDF, use the interface to highlight the specific area of the PDF you want to extract.
Adjust the selection box to cover all relevant parts of the table by dragging the blue corners, then click "Extract data" to start the extraction process.
Review the extracted data to ensure it is complete and accurate.
For text-only areas, each line will appear in a separate cell. For tabular data, it will be formatted as tables. If the selection contains both text and tables, the plain text will be ignored.
Once satisfied, click "Insert at active cell" to close the dialog. To extract more tables, click "Back" to repeat the process.
After verifying that all necessary information has been correctly extracted and is in your Lido spreadsheet, highlight the cells containing the data. Right-click your selection and select "Copy" from the context menu.
Go to Google Sheets and paste the data into your spreadsheet by pressing Ctrl + V.
We hope that you now know how to extract data using OCR to Google Sheets in Lido.
