In this article, we will show you how to create a reminder in Google Calendar from your desktop and smartphone. Simply follow the process below.
Creating reminders in Google Calendar has evolved with the introduction of Google Tasks. In recent updates, Google has streamlined its reminder system by integrating it with Google Tasks. This means that instead of setting reminders as a separate entity, users now create tasks that act as reminders.
Follow the process below to add reminders to your Google Calendar from your desktop.
Look for the Google Tasks icon on the right side of Google Calendar. It's a blue circle with a checkmark. Click on it to open the Tasks panel.
In the Tasks panel, find and click the “Add a task” option. It's usually at the top of the panel. Enter the title of your reminder, like “Doctor’s Appointment.”
After creating the task, click on it to add more details. This can include specific notes, additional instructions, or any relevant information that helps you remember the task's purpose.
For your task to serve as a reminder, set a specific date and time. This is when Google Calendar will remind you about the task.
If your task needs to be repeated regularly, choose the recurrence option. You can set it to recur daily, weekly, monthly, or customize the frequency.
Once all details are set, click “Save” to confirm. Alternatively, you can simply close the task panel, and your task will be saved automatically.
Follow the process below to add reminders in your Google Calendar using the Google Calendar app.
Open the Google Calendar app on your smartphone. Ensure you are logged into your Google account. Tap the '+' icon located below the calendar view.
Select the task icon to start creating a new task.
Type in the title of your reminder. For example, use titles like “Pharmacy Visit” or “Team Meeting.”
After entering the title, select the task to add more information. Include any important notes or additional details.
Choose a specific date and time for the task. This determines when you will receive the reminder.
If the task is recurring, set it to repeat. You can choose daily, weekly, monthly, or customize the frequency.
Once you've added all the details, tap “Save” or simply go back to automatically save the task.
